As an archeologist, I am fascinated by how material culture, landscape, and imagination shape our understanding of the human past — and that is something I strive to share with wider audiences. Over the past twenty years, I have been fortunate to work on a broad range of exhibitions, books, educational initiatives, social media projects, and public outreach programs, each with its own themes, challenges, and audiences.

In all my museum and outreach work, I aim to make the past tangible again, transforming archeological research into experiences that spark curiosity, reflection, and connection. Whether exploring the vanished landscapes of Doggerland, the fiery long-distance connections of the European Bronze Age, the chariot-driving warriors of the Iron Age, or medieval princesses adorned with gold and glass beads, my goal is always to connect audiences with heritage in ways that are both intellectually engaging and emotionally resonant.

Across every project, I strive to combine rigorous scholarship with strong narrative design, balancing scientific accuracy, aesthetic impact, and accessibility. I particularly enjoy collaborating with curators, designers, artists, educators, and fellow researchers, all driven by a shared ambition: to make heritage meaningful, engaging, and memorable for diverse audiences.

Ultimately, my work seeks to bridge science and storytelling. Archeology is not only about what we find, but about what those discoveries reveal about being human — then, now, and in the future.

In this part of my website, I share some of my favorite projects. I am always open to new collaborations in this field, so do feel free to get in touch via Sasja@vanderVaart-Verschoof.com.
